For my 3rd reading blog I chose to write about the article “Traditional Vs. Digital: The Battle of the Arts” by Sitwat Mian published by The Blaze. This article looks back on how controversial digital art itself was and still is. Nowadays everyone is worried about AI art, but before that was digital art in itself. With every new modern art movement there is controversy. Certain people who create art without the use of electronic mediums did not agree with digital art. They see it as an easy way out when I see it as the next step in art. The price can vary between mediums as handmade can be more expensive with each supply you need. Canvases, paints, inks, brushes, and utensils can be more expensive than the programs used for digital art. With all the subscriptions required for different online programs it can add up as well. Traditional methods can take up more time and be more unforgiving than electronic art so I can see why people would think it is unfair. People using electronic art have so many tools at their disposal, unlimited colors, brushes, and resources all within one screen. The use of layers and being able to undo something is remarkable. Certain traditional methods do not allow you to layer certain ways or erase certain materials. Both styles to me are special in their own ways. Traditional art has more of a sense of craft to me, using their own hands is something that I appreciate. On the other hand with electronic art there are endless possibilities that can be created and how much time it saves.
