After finishing the AI/Glitch project I had more fun than I thought I would. Going into this project I was skeptical about using AI generated images. I was never one for AI and being honest it freaked me out. Being a college student in this day and age I’ve strayed away from AI not even using Chat GPT. I felt like using AI was cheating. Yet during the process it was much more enjoyable seeing how the computer generated the prompts you put in. It was a different satisfaction than making art by starting from scratch. There was a little bit of gambling in the prompts and glitches. The prompt could be completely wrong or the glitch doesn’t do anything or completely corrupts the file. Besides that there were endless possibilities of themes we could use that made it harder to solidify what I wanted to do. Throughout the progress I stuck with a lot of animals and nature themes as AI seemed to be better at generating them. I also used the comic/cartoon filter because it seemed less uncanny than the realistic images. I used quite a bit of fake glitches as I had trouble with the other photo glitches. The control of the gifs made less room for error. During this whole process my favorite glitch was the datamosh. The way the scenes would melt into each other I had to put some in. During the process there was a lot of adventure through each medium which reflects a lot of the theme of animals, nature, and adventure.
